INTRODUCING

HKV Heirloom Care

Restoration support for precious Banarasi silk textiles.

Some pieces are not simply garments. They carry weddings, mothers, grandmothers and memories that cannot be recreated. HKV Benaras now offers specialist assessment and restoration support for selected precious Banarasi silk textiles — sarees, lehengas, dupattas, stoles and any silk textile where both the front and back are visible and the weave, zari or fabric needs careful attention.

Every textile is assessed individually. Feasibility and cost are confirmed only after inspection.

For the pieces you are afraid to trust with just anyone.

A tear in your mother's saree. A stain on your wedding lehenga dupatta. Real silver zari darkened on a treasured stole. Banarasi silk textiles need more than an ordinary repair attempt. Silk, zari, ageing threads and handwoven structures must be understood before intervention — whether it is a saree, a lehenga, a dupatta or a fine silk stole. We first understand the textile, then tell you what may safely be possible.

Textiles we may be able to help with

We work with Banarasi silk textiles where both the front and back are visible and the weave, zari or fabric requires careful handling:

  • Banarasi Sarees — silk, tissue, organza-kora, cotton Banarasi
  • Lehengas — Banarasi silk lehenga skirts where the weave and zari are intact
  • Dupattas — Banarasi silk or zari dupattas, including bridal dupattas
  • Stoles — fine silk or zari stoles with visible front and back
  • Other silk textiles — any Banarasi or fine silk textile where both sides are visible and the piece has sentimental or heirloom value

Each piece is assessed individually. We only take up work we believe can be handled safely.

What we may help restore

Rafu / Mending
Selected tears, holes and worn areas where the textile is strong enough.

Stain Care
Treatment attempt for selected stains based on fabric, stain age, dye behaviour and prior treatment. Not guaranteed.

Dyeing Support
Considered only where fabric strength, colour and zari allow it safely.

Real Silver Zari Oxidation Care
Assessment for genuine silver zari darkened with age, subject to textile condition.

Not every piece is suitable. We only take up work we believe can be handled safely.

Because Banarasi silk needs people who understand the weave.

HKV Benaras comes from within the Banarasi weaving tradition. We understand silk, zari, woven structure, ageing fabric and restoration risk. A wrong chemical or rough repair can harm delicate textiles further — whether it is a saree, a lehenga or a dupatta. Our process begins with assessment, not promises.

A careful process, from first conversation to return delivery.

  1. Share Photos or Book a Video Call — Send full images and close-ups of both front and back, plus any damage, stain or zari concern.
  2. Preliminary Review — We advise whether physical assessment appears suitable; not final approval.
  3. Send the Textile — Only after HKV confirmation; customer pays two-way shipping.
  4. Physical Assessment & Tentative Quote — We inspect fabric, weave, zari, stains, dyeing possibility and risks, then share feasible work and tentative cost.
  5. Approval & Restoration — Work starts only after your approval.
  6. Final Billing & Return — Final bill reflects actual work; after payment the textile is packed and returned.

Do not ship any textile before confirmation from HKV Benaras.

Restoration is careful work. It is not a guarantee of perfection.

  • Stain removal is case to case and not guaranteed.
  • Prior chemical treatment, faded dyes, silk condition and zari may affect results.
  • Rafu visibility depends on damage, weave, yarn/colour matching and age.
  • Dyeing is considered only where technically safe.
  • Zari oxidation care depends on genuine zari type and textile condition.
  • Very weak, brittle or unsafe-to-handle textiles may be declined.
  • Tentative pricing may change if additional work is found.
  • Work starts only after approval; customer bears two-way shipping.

We would rather decline a restoration than risk damaging a piece precious to you.

What this service does not include

No repurposing, conversion, redesign, guaranteed stain removal, or promise that an old textile will look new. We do not convert sarees into lehengas, suits, jackets, bags or home décor. We do not work on pieces where both sides are not visible (e.g. lined garments where the lining cannot be removed).

Is your textile suitable for assessment?

May be suitable: Banarasi saree • Silk or zari dupatta • Banarasi lehenga • Fine silk stole • Small or moderate tear • Stain on a treasured piece • Darkened real silver zari • Structurally sound textile with visible front and back

May not be suitable: Lined or stitched garments where back is not accessible • Tearing on touch • Brittle or powdering silk • Extensive damage • Repurposing request • Guaranteed invisible result expected • Urgent work without assessment

Unsure? Send clear photos of front and back on WhatsApp →

How pricing works

Each piece has different condition, weave, strength, zari, stain history and restoration needs, so charges are assessed individually.

Enquiry → Video Call (if needed) → Physical Assessment → Tentative Quote → Approval → Final Billing

Consultation / assessment fee: ₹500. It may be adjusted against eligible restoration work as per policy. Courier and return shipping are paid by the customer.

Questions we are often asked

Do you only work on sarees?
No. We work on Banarasi sarees, lehengas, dupattas, stoles and other fine silk textiles where both the front and back are visible and accessible.

Can every old Banarasi textile be restored?
No. Restoration depends on the textile's stability, the nature of damage and what can safely be done. We assess each piece individually.

Is stain removal guaranteed?
No. Stain removal depends on fabric type, stain age, dye behaviour and prior treatment. We attempt careful treatment but cannot guarantee results.

Will rafu be invisible?
Not guaranteed. Visibility depends on the damage, weave structure, yarn and colour matching, and the age of the textile.

Can darkened zari be cleaned?
Genuine real silver zari can be assessed case to case. Results depend on the type of zari and the textile's condition.

Can you work on a lehenga or dupatta?
Yes, if it is a Banarasi silk lehenga or dupatta where both sides are visible and accessible. Lined or fully stitched pieces where the back cannot be accessed may not be suitable.

Can you dye old textiles?
Only if technically safe — based on fabric strength, existing colour and zari compatibility.

Do you repurpose or convert textiles?
No. We do not convert sarees into lehengas, suits, jackets, bags or home décor.

How do I begin?
Share clear photos of both front and back via WhatsApp at +91 89350 17347. Please send the textile only after our team confirms it.

Who pays for shipping?
The customer pays both-way courier charges.

What will it cost?
Costs are confirmed case to case after physical assessment. We share a tentative quote before any work begins.
